Free Member. I’ve owned a 13 plate ibiza 1.4tsi for around a year, it’s been pretty much spot on. Slightly higher oil consumption than other cars but not at all that bad (around a litre per I came across the Scirocco (3rd gen.) and have been looking at it for quite a while now, reading articles, review s, the usual stuff. The only (possibly) dodgy bit I found is the 1.4 TSI (160!) engine. Some people say it has no problems, however other people speak horror stories of them. With up to 180hp, the 1.8L TSI is more than good enough for most commuter applications, but it does fall short of its bigger brother, the 2.0L TSI which is a much more powerful engine. It looks good too, leaner with a new grille and hood creases giving it a sense of purpose and at glance you may be forgiven in thinking it’s a Passat.
